My First Official Review On Amazon

I have mentioned my friend Brennen on this site before.  He was kind enough to give me a review of Drinna.  He is a good friend of mine (as he says in his review), but I feel that his review truly shows that he understands the novel.  Yes, this is a plug as it happens he was very flattering and honoring of me and my book.  But I wanted to share it here with those people who are nice enough to stop by and see my work here.

I would absolutely love it if more people would go and sample and review my first novel.  If you don't like it, please be kind enough to say why, so I can learn from the experience.  If you do like it, please also say why (so I can feel good about myself for specific reasons :) ).

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Drinna (Kindle Edition)
In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that the author of Drinna is a very good friend of mine. Because of that, I procrastinated reading his book because I didn't think that someone I know so well could write a book as good as Drinna.

I'm haven't really been a fantasy or sci-fi fan since I was a kid. Most fantasy cheeses me out: I can't bring myself to read anything with elves or dragons unless it's from a collection of fairy tales. My usual reading fare is stuff like Henry Miller or Eugene Ionesco. Other than some early pulp stuff like Howard and Lovecraft, my recent fantasy reads have been authors like China Mieville, Jack Vance and Tanith Lee.

In this short novel, Jared Gullage has done an amazing job of transporting the reader into another world, complete with alien flora and fauna, cultures, religion and language. He's used this world as a vehicle to explore an adolescent girl's spiritual and cultural crisis, touching on issues with which any introspective adult has grappled. His book could be considered a modern allegory, filled with a wealth of ideas and philosophical questions. Or, you could just sit down and enjoy the read.
